Need help Installing ECU in 1978 911sc
Purchased a 1983 3.0 engine with a full wiring harness and ECU. I will be installing this in my 1978. ( I could not find a 78/79...) Has anyone done this... Curious where I should be routing the new harness into cab to install ECU under pass seat. Thinking I might have room in rear parking sensor hole through body. Anyone who has had experience with this, could you please let me know.
Cheers Damon

On my 83, the ECU harness passed through a separate hole behind the passenger seat through the back just above the floorboard (probably about where the angle of a rear seat passenger would be) then the bulkhead connector mounted on the engine side shelf near where the cruise control diaphragm is.
You might also consider adapting earlier non-lambda CIS unless you’re confident everything is in working order. There are a few pretty unique electrical parts for the lambda cars that I don’t think have a lot of aftermarket support. I think you’d just need the fuel related parts and hoses, but I suspect someone else in here has done the same previously. The engine chassis harness should have all the right connectors for the CIS components not related to the lambda system (the lambda related parts are all on the lambda harness that runs from the ECU). |

Thanks Sigchuck. I will look around that area and see if I can find a way through.. All CIS/Lambda parts were rebuilt along with entire engine. Everything has been tested and working perfectly ... ..fingers crossed hah.
Cheers

If you use the 78 fuel distributor and warmup regulator, you won't need that stuff.

I did it. You can see my install here:
Another AEM EFI Conversion The ECU cables went through a hole I drilled with an appropriate grommet on the rear passenger side vertical wall about 5 inches from the shifter tunnel tunnel and about 2 inches from the floor (going off memory). I can check and provide more accurate details, if needed.

Damon,
Aside from the ECU and main wire harness, do you have the enrichment wire harness and relay? You need all these plus OXS. Tony |
