Question Can anyone identify this part for me?

While stripping out old alarm and radio wire from my 911 I found this box.

Mine is a 3.2 Carrera RHD UK car and the box was located in the passenger (left) footwell on the rear of the kick board. The plug that seems likely to fit it was just left loose.

I don't want to plug it in without some idea of what it does. I'm not aware of anything not working so I'm a bit puzzled as to what it is.

Any ideas.

Thanks

Andy

I have no idea Andy, but with that parts number a dealership parts counter guy should be able to tell you. Perhaps part of a factory alarm system? Just a wild guess...

Andy,

Perhaps a headlight relay of some sort, albeit in a weird location?

From my rudimentary German, "reduziertes fahrlicht" = "reduced headlight", for what its worth.

That seems odd since 3.2L cars didn't use relays for the headlights.

Agreed, but based on the cut wiring loom photo in Andy's other post, it looks like there's several non-standard electrical issues going on...
