The Second Annual SCWDP Rainforest Round-Up, is. . .

. . on the horizon.

. . .and; just around the corner. . . :D

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...2-PICT0152.jpg

July 26th, is the time, State of Washington is the place.

(pre-drive pict's). . .more to follow.

island911 06-09-2003 11:12 AM

There will be a few mountain passes involved.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...nsPICT0190.jpg

Most of the snow should be melted by July 26th.

Mark Wilson 06-09-2003 11:35 AM

I hope I can...I hope I can.....

island911 06-09-2003 12:05 PM

Mark, we hope you can make it too. If you think you can, you should reserve a room at Hood River Inn (soon!)

Based on the pre-drive, this is going to be a great outing.

One of the SCWDP's planned stops, is to infiltrate. . er'a . . .I mean visit this shrine of early Porsches.

Stephan, the owner, has all kinds of cool 911 stuff in there.
(his website is http://www.route30classics.com/ , BTW)

Tim Walsh 06-09-2003 12:07 PM

:D there has to be some irony in the picture of the ducktailed early car (maybe mfi?) on the thread about the SCWDP. Looks like alot of fun.

island911 06-09-2003 12:10 PM

irony!?. . . well. . . Since a “Plot” is much more inclusive than a club (or a gruppe) the SCWDP International Counsel felt it best to have the proposed route pre-driven with the lesser 911s included. . .just to insure they could squeak-by. ;)

BTW, wasn't the SC-RS the last 911 to use MFI ? MUHAhahahaha! :D

Tim Walsh 06-09-2003 12:22 PM

sounds good to me and I'd join you if my 911 was healthy and I was close :(

BTW there was someone ebaying a SC-RS injection system on ebay the other day..it was true drool material.

island911 06-09-2003 12:30 PM

SC-RS injection system on ebay Yeah, I was drool'n too. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/ultim...ons/icon14.gif

Bill Douglas 06-09-2003 12:48 PM

Tim, we sent the ducktail car ahead in case there were some radar cops ;)

Tim Walsh 06-09-2003 12:50 PM

LOL and that's why my early car is sepia brown which has the great property of making the car insivible to cops. :D

Bill, that was SCWDP International Counsel privliged information.
We'll discuss your leak here at our next meeting. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/smash.gif

nostatic 06-09-2003 01:08 PM

Bill took a leak? I thought he was supposed to just wait until he hit 40 then explode...

Bill Douglas 06-09-2003 01:12 PM

LOL.

Mark Wilson 06-09-2003 01:44 PM

Hey....Somebody ruined that perfectly good SC in the first picture by backdating it. :(

Doug Zielke 06-09-2003 03:31 PM

island,
I was wondering when you'd post some tantalizing shots from the pre-run.
I can hardly wait for July 26th!!
Rainforesters.....if you miss this one, you might just as well sell your cars.

PS: island....the flogging we gave the 'Bomber on the pre-run seemed to unleash even more hp.
I took a little drive on the "test track" this morning, and she fairly leaps out of the tight lower hairpin!!

island911 06-09-2003 04:04 PM

BTW; despite the name (Rainforest Round-up) it won't all be in a rainforest.

PS; Doug, be careful on the "test track" . . . those rock walls didn't look too friendly.

Drago 06-10-2003 12:20 PM

Alright, I just have to *bump* this back up to the top...afterall, I am this years host :)

Doug and Island911 are correct. Those of you who miss this event will be missing something truly special and unique.

Also, all you "Oreygon" locals (Stew, this means you)....please consider joining us for the top-secret Day Two tour that our own Randy W has developed through extensive backroad thrashing...er, uh, "research". For those that don't already know, that's Randy's early ducktailed monster in the previous images.

As I've said before, please PM or email me if your at all interested in attending this years Round-Up. I promise to not bite. SmileWavy

Accomodation booking information is as follows:

Leaving from the Seattle area the morning of July 26th. Overnight at the Hood River Inn on the mighty Columbia River.
Second Day features said top-secret tour and a stop by Route 30 Classics. Some are booking a room Sunday night as well. I would recommend it as we pre-drove the entire route in one day and it was a very, very long day.

Hood River Inn
Group Booking Name: Rain Forest Round-Up
Phone: 1-800-828-7873

Be sure to mention the group booking name as they are sold out of rooms otherwise.

Also, for those of you who have already booked a room and for those that book soon, please send me an email at marcsanders68@yahoo.com with "Round-Up" in the subject line (trying to get an email list together).

One other thing. The Hood River Inn will only hold the remaining reserved rooms until one month prior to the event. That means everyone who wants to attend should have their rooms booked no later than June 26th.

Jim Richards 06-10-2003 12:59 PM

long hood envy. :D

JTO 06-10-2003 02:17 PM

Guys,

What is the proposed route? I'm down in Cottage Grove and was wondering if it makes sense for me to tag along.

Troy

Randy W 06-10-2003 03:12 PM

I have driven about 700 miles of back roads in north central/east Oregon over the past three years. The route for Day 2 is still to be determined, but let's just say it starts and ends in Hood River, is about 150 miles long and is as good as Day 1 - and that was great! Tight mountain switchbacks, sub-alpine passes, canyon runs, winding river valleys and high desert mile long straights will comprise the weekend's routes - so sign up now. That goes for all you NW R Gruppe guys too! All Porsches are welcome, even those with MFI ;). This is going to be fun...
