				Shifter Extension Availability

I just took delivery of my first air-cooled Porsche. Mail order, no test drive. 1984 911 Cabrio M491 euro. I'm 6' tall. The first thing I notice is that I can't reach the shifter without bending over and taking my eyes off everything else. I've seen discussion of shifter extensions on this forum before. Where can I buy one. I think I need 3-5 inches.

You are going to have to figure this out yourself - there are no retail solutions that I was able to find. I am 6'3" and put a 2" extension on with parts from Mcmaster Carr. Search John Walker shift extension and there are some options.

I wonder if you have some sort of aftermarket lever in the car? I'm 6'2" and never had an issue with the original shifter.

I'm 6'1" and wear an 18x37 shirt. I feel that another inch or two back would help. I have to lean slightly forward to shove the shifter all the way into 5th.

I ordered one of these from JimmyT about a month ago. Totally makes rowing through the gears allot easier if you're a six footer. The kit is very high quality and smartly engineered. JimmyT is a super nice person and the fact that he only charges $34.42 for this part is mind blowing! To anybody on the fence about buying one, it's a no brainer choice.
