Emergency flashers/turn signal problem

My 71 911E was making a ticking sound all the time while driving.
I started by replacing the turn signal relay (#914-618-303-12). It’s shorter in height, but I figured it has been superseded. The flashers still weren’t working properly so I replaced the emergency switch on the lower dash (#911-613-124-31) and it still isn’t working properly.
When emergency flasher button is in, emergency flashers flash very quickly.
When Lt turn signal is activated, emergency flashers stop and the turn signals work properly. Same with the right turn signals.
When emergency flasher button is out, nothing works….no emergency flashers, no turn signals.
It used to be….emergency button in…..turn signals work. Emergency flasher button out, emergency flashers worked.
Not sure what’s going wrong.

Not at all clear what your original problem was. Everything worked except you had clicking?
Then you swapped some parts and created a new problem?

Yes, everything worked, but the flasher was making an annoying clicking sound all the time so I put a new flasher in a that’s when nothing worked correctly

The flasher is also used by the brake warning system. Hand brake on or low brake fluid.

I would put the old flasher back and figure out what is triggering it
Has it always had this issue?
