Power window to manual window converters

I recently acquired a pair of these for use on an eventual project.

Retro-fit kit to manual window | RSR 911 - Robert Sikkens Racing

These converters replace the electric window motors and allow you to fit a manual crank.

Description from the site...

"This kit enables you to use the original electrical mechanism of the power windows, by removing the electric motor and replacing it with this item.

The installation is quick and easy, just fix the pinion of our kit as close as possible to the ring of the original mechanism, making sure not to tighten them together too close.

I haven't installed /!tested them as of yet, but they look & feel brilliant. I wish I'd known about them before installing manual Speedster window regulators in my current build (they required modification/ reworking).

The converters weigh 3.85 ozs each. The electric motors they replace weigh 26.24 ozs each, which equates to a ~2.8 lb weight savings.

This is pretty cool, too bad the price is more than a used set of manual regulators.

Slick but pricey. Sometimes ease of install is worth the extra $$.

Sure... If you can find the correct set of manual regulators, in acceptable condition, when you need them and it's worth your time to dig into the door cavity to remove the originals and install the replacements. BTDT, albeit with a new set of regulators and per this original post, my preference going forward will be to pop these converters in.

FWIW, New Dansk regulatiors can be had for ~$640 a pair.

Anyway, I tried sourcing used manual regulators for my project and wasn't able to. I looked at this kit...

...but felt that I could do it for less than $1,183.

Interestingly, Speedster manual regulators were considerably less expensive than the factory coupe versions, so I rolled the dice on them. While we eventually got them to work, they required modification, including welding.

I was unaware of the Dansk option at the time, or I would have gone with those instead.

So, I'll use these converters in the future. They're easier to install and, if desired, uninstall if you want to go back to power windows. I'm always willing to pay a premium for convenience and optionality.

I think you will find used manual regulators are fairly available.

On the note of work involved - this is not really an easy button. Work involvement is identical unless you want to attach blind or with a small view window. Using two sockets/wrenches/whatever inside the door cavity to attach this device seems like almost more work than removing the regulator to perform the job. If you do that then you are actually saving time as you don't need to add this part, just a simple swap.

Like I said it is a neat part, but unless regulators jump in price, I'll stick with stock parts.
