911SC - advance timing stuck in dizzy - how to fix?
Hi,
I got a 911 SC from 1978, which has got the advance timing stuck in the ignition distributor. I feel it doesn’t move when I try to push ring in the distributor. Also tried to put a vacuum pump with hose on it, the vacuum can on the side holds vacuum and it feels like it tries to push the advance timing but can't. Does anyone have instruction on how to fix this problem? I guess I need to disassemble some stuff on the dizzy, so some helping instructions would be helpful. Thx |

Welcome :-)
I also recommend the YT Channel from KlassikATS, they also got videos concerning the distributor on various 911, but unfortunately not for the SC's yet. Hope they will come soon. The Marelli is different to the Bosch ones, but you get an impression how to proceed. https://www.youtube.com/@klassikats/search?query=bosch%20distributor Be aware about the ignition timing when putting it back into the car. I recommend a digital timing light gun like the Equus 5568 Motortester, with that you can test the advance quite easily. Thomas
