To fold or not to fold..? That is my question - Targa top.

I was raised/always told to "not" fold the Targa tops.

With that said, I have a top that was redone a few years ago, made it though an accident and is either going to be sold or moved with me.

My question is:

Will folding it once for the move/shipping hurt it that much??? Creating a box for it has been a major pain...folding would be so much better.

Erik

I fold mine every time I put it in the car, I’ve owned it over 30 years. I did have it rebuilt probably 15 years ago. I haven’t noticed any creases or other signs of problems.

I think if you left it folded for years and in poor conditions, you would have trouble, but folding and unfolding regularly shouldn’t cause problems.

One note, when I shipped mine for the rebuild, Dan suggested asking a dealer or body shop if they had a box that a door panel or door came in as that is a perfect size.

Excellent input. I wouldn't think folding once, with well maintained materials should be a problem.

For what these sell for now...just want to make sure.

Thank you!

Like a sleeping bag, unpack it if you’re not transporting it.

If you are considering selling… how much? Asking for a friend

I never fold the ones I sell. I ship them in a tv box. They will also fit unfolded behind the seats.

I was just looking at the TV boxes we have since we are in the middle of a move across country.

Think that may be an answer/option.

Even the Home Depot tv box may work.

Thanks!

For what it’s worth, I just had to get a new top from Germany and it was shipped not folded.

You mean I went through all that work for nothing?

You no longer have to fold your Targa top to get it in the Ftrunk

Just fabricate a bracket and slide the reservoir over.
I'm not sure how you squeezed that in there, but I'm looking at it.

Regarding storing unfolded behind the seats, be warned over time it chafes the interior so the sharp corners of the top need to be buffered somehow.

Very easy job..Start at the front and after just lay it on top ,my friend`s 911 even has the cross bar between the struts , fits perfectly

Someone used to sell a bag to protect it and the upholstery

Getting ready to sell my targa top once I get settled.

For those of you that shipped open, any particular tv box you used? HD, Lowes, recycled from Best Buy?

Shipping in a TV box it just feels so exposed. Currently have in one with loads of padding, but man, one shot to the center and it could get damaged...

Thanks,
Erik
