1984 3.2 no start (CHT sensor replacement didn’t fix)
Hi folks, I feel a bit dejected. I have a crank but no start issue with my ‘84, I tested the CHT sensor after consulting the forum and found the resistance to be erratic when the engine was warm. I replaced the sensor with the new two wire part to no avail. Any help from the brain trust would be greatly appreciated. Here‘s the full story:
I took the car one mile to the post office, when I got back in, it cranked but didn’t fire. After five minutes, it started right back up. Two days later, I drove the car two miles, parked it for 5 minutes, same thing except this time it took 20 minutes for it to start back up again. One day later I decided to drive it to my wrench. It didn’t make it, it stalled on the road. This time it needed a solid hour to start again (after the tow dropped it off at my place) Today I replaced the CHT sensor with a URO two wire sensor and the symptoms are the same. The car doesn’t event start when cold. What’s next? Crank position sensor? Flywheel sensor? I did swap DMEs a few times without success. Thanks for your help, Alex

Evidently it's temperature related. These symptoms could also occur with a failing ignition coil. If you have a spare, swap it. If not, buy one. It's a good idea to have a backup coil in the frunk anyway. It gives you "umbrella effect"--if you have one, it won't rain. If you don't have one...
