How did I ever live without this!!!

So I finally decided to upgrade the exhaust to a Dansk euro premuffler and Dansk sport muffler (aluminized version). How in the world did I ever live without these products (thank you Steve @ Pelican)? The car really moves so much smoother through the power band and the low end really has improved. Its like a heimlich for my car for sure. This should be a required upgrade for those who do not have emissions Nazi's.

A question though, my oxygen sensor was not connected??? I thought the computer in the car required the oxygen sensor to run the mixture properly?? Is this not true. The car idles and runs perfectly without this being connected. What gives? If anyone is interested I would be happy to post photos of the system if I can figure out how to upload photos.

Hey man,

When I had my cat. removed from my Carrera the O2 Sensor was removed too. I didn’t like that. I had a bolt welded to the straight pipe so I could thread the O2 sensor back in. Didn’t really tell that much of a difference either way, but, I wasn’t w/o it it for too ling. I was told by some reputable Porsche people that it needs to be there. I thought so too, even before other people telling me.

Later

I hear you. I just had my Dansk premuffler/Flowmaster installed today. Wonderful rumble at idle, nice sound under throttle. Not terribly loud (using the single/single Roush muff recommended in the other threads). My shop did beautiful work, I'm very happy. Seems to really broaden the torque band by about 750 rpm or so, not sure that it adds hp, but the car seems to "come on" now at about 3k or so.

If you have a Euro pre, why no O2? It has the bung. My old one was a fixture in the old cat-I actually broke the pawls on a Craftsman ratchet trying to remove (man, that hurt when my arm smacked the fender lip) and then broke a cheap O2 socket as well. I bought the Ford Bosch sensor as its even cheaper than the universal and slapped that in.

I'd highly recommend this combo. The muffler ended up costing around 275 installed (more than others have paid here, but I sourced the muff from someone other than the installer, and may have been hosed a little) and its very nice. Its not stainless but I'm told they last almost forever if painted.

My only complaint is that if I run the car hard to near redline in second and lift to shift, it sometimes pops, as if unburned fuel is firing off in the muff.

The O2 sensor is actually there it is not actually connected electrically though. Strange... but the car runs great.

I believe the computer reverts to the basic setting when the O2 sensor is not connected.
