O2 Sensor connector
Look what we made this weekend a fix for that broken O2 connector.

fully disassembled, blasted, customized and restored 75 targa with factory hard top, 993 style turbo ft fenders, steel flares, C2 bumpers and rockers, 82 3.0 sc 9.5/1 engine with PMS flywheel, 964 cams, flowed heads, ssi's short geared 915 w/lsd, polybronze, bilstein,working lambda, modified and highly tuned cis, tensioners, pop valve, backdated exhaust and heater, 2300 lbs. no bolt left untouched. 1970 911E. Nice car but needs a re-do. |

While working on my car I broke my second connector, I showed it to my machinist neighbor and told him can you make we make this and he said no problem. I'll ask if he can make some more and how much.

I am a little confused by attaching what appears to be the O2 sensor from the exhaust manifold to the machined part. Is the new part to replace the ceramic component that is attached to the wiring loom?
If it does, in fact, replace the wiring loom component and it works, I am willing to pay real $$$ for one.

Hal, The black O2 wire plugs back in the to the damaged connector and can be secured by a large heat shrink and can be tuck in behind the wiring. This way no need to replace the wire o damaged connector. I'll take some more pics installed in my engine compartment.

Louie, Sometimes I can be as dumb as a box of rocks, so pardon me again.
In your first picture the new machined piece is sitting on a black pad. In the background is what I think is the wiring loom connector to which the O2 sensor plugs into. Is the piece in the background what the new machined piece replaces? And the other picture illustrates how the wiring loom would attach to the new piece? Sorry I am so dense on this.

Yep, the new machined piece replaces the broken connector and the black wire came from an old 02 sensor which I soldered a connector at the end to mount on the new replacement piece. There's not much room there when this piece is mounted so the easiest way is to have a 90 deg connection. I'll get some more pics for this afternoon.

Installation pics.
The beauty of this connector is that the rod goes all the way to end of the connector, not like the original that creates a weak point at the connection. If there's enough demand we can produce the connector and be available at Pelican parts. ![]() ![]() ![]()

That looks great. I'm on my 2nd broken connector as well. I think I would be interested.
One unrelated queston...when you spliced your connector, how did you deal with the shielding around the green wire?

I don't think I understand why you don't just snip the green wire out of the old connector and solder/connect it directly to your new part, though. Lose all that old stuff.

I only used the center wire, the oem connector only uses the center wire. "I don't think I understand why you don't just snip the green wire out of the old connector and solder/connect it directly to your new part, though. Lose all that old stuff." That's another option one can do, I did this just to show how to deal with old damaged connector without cutting it.

Louie, that does look terrific. Maybe the Carreras are different than SC's and hence my questions.
If you neighbor wants to make a limited run of these, count me in.

That's cool! I love the "better mouse trap". I too would get one as I've already broken one so it's only a matter of time that I break another. Count me in if you're taking pre orders.

the only prob is, to utilize that connector, you would have to buy the oem 02 senor, around 100 bucks. you can get a Bosch one wire at most parts stores for 19.95, its the same thing, just diff, connector. and you cant use solder for any conn. on the 02 wire, it affects the milli volts that travels that wire.

Update:
We made 10 connectors, also trim the back end a bit to give more room on the wiring harness, Please PM me if anybody is interested in this first run. If enough demand will have this available in the pelican parts. ![]()
