Do Bilstein inserts come w/ TWO cap nuts?
I am installing Bilstein SP inserts in my Boge struts (89 Carrera). The Bilsteins come with TWO large threaded rings around the insert.
One, with female threads, appears to thread in place of the Boge strut's cap nut. The other, brass color with with male threads, doesn't seem to have any function. I am thinking it is an alternate cap nut for struts that are threaded on the inside, so I should remove and discard it. Right? Wrong? RTFM doesn't help, whether that be Bentley, 101 Proejcts, or the laughably terse instructions that came with the Bilsteins.

Yes, they do come with two (or the ones that I received for my '88 did), some cars that take those struts have internal threads some have external, it's probably cheaper to have one box for both.

Thanks. Well, have gotten both Boge inserts out and both Bilstein inserts in. One front monoball installed, torquing the other now. Things are going smoothly . . . too smoothly? "It's quiet . . . too quiet".
