Anyone running a VEMS standalone ECU in 3.2?
Am digging around for a standalone (programmable) ECU for 3.2 that is plug & play. Came across a PPF post suggesting Canems has this is the UK. Emailed them and no response. Another possible source is VEMS... their "PnP For 911 3.2." Does not look plug & play but also does not appear to be brain surgery.
...Am posting to see if anyone is using the VEMS system and of course what the opinion on it is. .

![]() It's not entirely equivalent, because it prefers modern tech. WTH would you choose to run the "barn-door" AFM when the unit has a built-in MAP sensor, for example? And using a wide-band O2 sensor (that plugs directly into the ECU) makes a lot more sense than sticking with 80's tech narrow-band. Especially if you want to run autotune... raceboy has sold and supported a number of these - apparently goes by "Peep" on other forums. Here's his 2015 announcement in the 930 forum Quote:
Here's a recommendation for him from 2016: Quote:
There are plenty more - especially from the 924/944/951 forums. Unfortunately, Pelican search appears to be even more broken than normal, and returns nothing for a search on "VEMS". Instead, try typing "VEMS ECU site:=forums.pelicanparts.com" into a Google search bar for 10 pages of results from a real search engine. If I hadn't already sourced an M800, I'd very likely have seriously considered VEMS for my EFI conversion.

I bought a unit from raceboy/peep. I ended selling off the engine that it was purchased for and then selling off the unit for what I paid. I don’t have any experience with the vems system but I would buy again from peep if I needed one. Everything looked very well done and he is very knowledgeable about the system.

Spuggy... appreciate the intel. Have contacted both Raceboy and VEMS via PM and email. No replay as of yet. To your "barn-door" question, my pref is to convert to a programmable ECU in the simplest path possible. And so the "plug & play" quest. Dumping the AFM surely calls for replacement hardware and then dealing with further puzzles to solve. With the maintenance I already have in hand, more is not appealing. Have discussed with Sal his approach to ridding 3.2's of their AFM and while his technical approach clearly has merit as I see it, I return to my pref for finding a simple means to an end. To add depth to this discussion, my fuel system focus exists given my 3.2 now getting 10 mpg city. This, after being rebuilt under a curious program. To complex a story to get into. Highway mpg now... 27---nothing to complain about.) Before the rebuild, engine was doing 18 city mpg. Not sure what the highway was back then but know it being respectable. As I write this, am in final throws of finishing a dual wideband install using Innovate's LC-2 hardware. System is running according to their controller's green lights but the possible last challenge is to get the data from their controllers through their serial connection to my laptop that's running Windows 11. Plan = data log a base line then log after every incremental change I make to the fuel system. Idea being to know exactly where this 10mpg issue is. Given factors along the engine rebuild's path, am inclined to believe the ECU installed now may be at fault. Knowing repairs or replacement will be more than a few dollars, getting a programable plug & play unit is an appealing, possible path to take. When I'm done with all the other things that call me, I will play with getting the best out of my engine. And so this standlone hunt. Quote:

Hi guys, looks like we might have gotten scammed, contacted what we thought was Peep Paadam (went under the name RACEBOY here on Pelican) and uses the email address: peep@vems.ee re: building/tuning a box for us, sent him the full payment and 3 weeks and counting no reply since he recieved the funds and his tel. number doesnt go thru and he's not replying to emails or facebook account, hope this was a legit sale and he's ok tho have a funny feeling we got taken. Multiple reasons for this post: if we got the right/real Peep and hope he's ok? anyone know him or how to reach him? and a third reason is to warn anyone else thinking of ordering off that "peep@vems.ee" to be forewarned from the look of it this site might be a scam. Anyway if anyone knows anything might help we'd surely appreciate the help! thanks!
the only info I have: Peep Päädam Address: Aardla 17-1, 50112 Tartu, Estonia Email address: peep@vems.ee Phone: +37255505801 |
