Safely removing an engine->transmission stud
I'm in the early assembly stages of my rebuild, and I accidentally bent the end of one of the studs that holds the transmission to the engine. I have a new stud, but I'm not sure of the right way to pull the old ones. I'm concerned I will twist the case if I do it wrong, and I don't have any special tools yet.
I'm also unsure if the previous owner used any loctite or similar. Should I just lock a couple of bolts and see if it comes with a big wrench? ![]()

I've never pulled those but I've pulled a bunch of 915 gearbox studs. Two nuts or a cheap stud removal tool and they come right out. Head studs are a different story - I use the fancy Snap-on puller for those.

The length of this one has me uncertain of what kind of puller/remover is even available.

You're not reusing it so you could always grab it with a big vise grip down on the shoulder.

Weld a cheap wrench to it, heat it and give it hell.

I remove the left studs to install the engine mount half moon. They just unbolt with double nut.

So I'm not the only one who has bent one of these.
