Have I scored a Prototipo? (pic)

Hi guys, I've just bought this off ebay for $197.50 Australian ($130 USD). Seller told me it came of a Ferrari Dino and that it has Momo stamped on the fron and rear.

Have I done okay?

It's either a Prototipo or a very god fake. I've never seen anyone go to the trouble of stamping the MOMO logo, though. Here's photo of the modern version. Note the location of the MOMO stamp. The Prototipo logo is painted on. Stitching is white, may have been different at some point in the past, or the PO colored it.

Here's a fake. It looks right except for the leather wrap at the bottom spoke is wrong, it's 10mm too big, and there is no MOMO stamp.

To his credit, the seller doesn't claim it is a MOMO.

Terrific, thanks Ray. I was told that the genuine Prototipos have the 3rd hole on the lower spoke. Both the one I've bought and your's have this characteristic.

Cheers

Hey Fishcop:
You probably don't want to know that I was the one bidding against you, but yes it is a Prototipo. I e-mailed the seller and he said it is painted but a bit faded. To quote the seller:

there is the Engraving MOMO inbetween the 1st and 2nd bottom two Holes ( Spokes )it is also Markt ( not Stampt or Engraved ) with a
white sort of Paint :Prototipo : just above that ,but that has fadet a bit and it is barely visible, that's why I dident specify it in the
Description ,on the rear centre spoke another Engraving : Made in Italy 1-84

Hope this helps,
Andrew M

Hey Andrew, I saw there was someone from Canada bidding as well. No hard feelings at all, boy I thought I was cruising for a little while when I had it at $70! (Aussie). I was happy to go to $200.

Thanks for the info on the Prototipo details, I'm happy now.

Cheers
