approx value for a clean 1989 930..
I am test driving it on Thursday. According to the mechanic (Ken Farler) it has minor mods, clean records, perfect body and interior. It is black with a choclate brown leather interior. The car has 55k miles. Any off the cuff value estimates?
Thanks, |

You did not mention whether it's a slant or not. If not I'd say the maximum value of it is $45,000 if it's absolutely pristine (ready to go to a show with a polish/wax) and if it's a slant, $55,000 in pristine condition. If it's a good driver, non-slant, I"d say $38,500........again, these are super high values, these are the maximums that I think you should pay. Make my day and come here tomorrow saying you closed the deal for $32,000!

It's a non-slant coupe. I don't think I will get a great deal on the car becasue the owner certainly doesn't need to sell it.

...and worth every penny. Be worth more if it was a cabriolet of course.
What modifications have been made? That could in itself save you some future cash outlays.

Dec. 2002 1989 911 Turbo w/ 38k miles black/tan no mods. for mid-30s in Kansas City.
Probs were lack of use in last few years. On a scale of 1 to 10, probably an 8 or 9...leakdown and compression were fantastic and she still doesn't leak oil (touching wood), even with M1. This was from a DEALER, not private party. Documentation was not great so past maint. unknown. Hope that helps!

oh crap, another rip in the space-time continuum. I thought when I quit plugging my blender into the 240V outlet that would stop happening. Must be something else...

I have a $13,000 list of of things being not "just perfect" Just ask Atty. Robert Miller what a fine mess he was left with from your buddy. Ask Steve Weiner of Rennsport about the fine 3.6 work he has witnessed from your buddy. Back to the topic of this thread, What in your opinion is an 89 930 coupe worth in excellent shape as stated above? |

If you love the old turbos then it's worth whatever your willing to pay. I would think somewhere between $30-35K is more resonable. The turbo starts getting tired around 60k. It's also a 14 year old car. Whether you drive it or not stuff wears out and rubber rots. I almost bought an '88 turbo w/6K miles a few years back, it was perfect. The second owner wanted $45k I held at $40k. Even with 6K miles it needed an engine re-seal at $5k. The upkeep on my '78 turbo w/72K was about $4-5k a year, stuff wearing out etc.
