why not try a mix...75% silver 25% blue.. have the paint guy make some samples, it might be cool

Found out the hard way that a 993 decklid is a few inches shorter. Lucky thing I found the 964 lid right away. Anybody need a lid from a 95` ? Funny thing is its Iris blue like randy`s car .

I put new floors in it too. The originals were not rotted through but were weak in some spots. It came out great and now I wont have to worry about putting in new floors after its painted. Took over 10 hours to do it though. Seam welded and 3M seam sealed. I sprayed down a thick coating of worth chip gaurd(made for lower rocker panels) then a thin layer of 3M rubberized under coat. You can barely tell they are not original . Yes I am proud of myself.

Silver. If I ever do a second 911, it'll be silver. My wife just got a silver Saab. She doesn't ever have to wash it. My black cars always need to be washed. Silver hides stone chips well, too.
There are lots of awesome period colors for 911's, but if you plan on driving it, then silver (which has adorned more than a few German racers) is a very smart way to go, IMO.

If metallic -- Gemini Blue.
If non-metallic -- Gulf Blue. The latter is very subtle and fabulous color. Iget compliments on it all the time, and from every type of person. I have NEVER had a ticket in the blue 911, but lots in red cars and in the silver Boxster S. Now, you need to decide if you want metallic or not. It is hard to do touch ups on rock chips. maybe others know other issues as well. |

I really want the blue like on the rear ducktail pictured above. I have never seen that color on a 911 before . If my painter can match the picture(havent confronted him with it yet). If not I will go for Iris blue like Randys car which is also pictured above. I dont want to have trouble in the future with matching the paint as I plan to drive this car daily, unlike the white garage queen .

If silver, check out the new silver colors -- Meridian is one. A silver flake that was almost a gray would be cool.
Ultimately, you need a whole range of colors in your fleet. |

Hey paul(pwd72s) dont think that green wasnt a possibility. My employees all said no to green and i was easily persuaded . I was thinking about it until I found that blue. I have another early coupe that I will likely have redone next year and use it for winter driving. That one will probably be done in silver but possibly green. I guess it depends on my state of mind when the time comes. For now its ugly faded original coat of puke yellow will get me through this winter.

Andrew very nice but not as alive as the blue I prefer. For a original car that color is excellent. I want a nice early car that I can abuse and race with. I have decided against the silver or silver/blue because its a problem to match when the car gets damaged. From what I understand silver is the hardest to match.

Orange is cool but its a little too good for attracting attension. Its also a very opinionated color. Some love it (I do) and some hate it. Knowbody hates blue and so far its my favorite choice .

Mexico Blue.
We have a client's car that is painted this color. When it is in the shop, people stop in their tracks and just stare. It's simply gorgeous. It gets lots of attention, but not in a bad way, or a neon-flashy way. It's something that has to be seen. I think it would be the perfect color for you project. I'm pretty sure it's on our website. www.tremotorsports.com I think it's in the photo gallery.

Kurt, really hard to tell on a moniter, but that "puke yellow" almost looks like what they called "sand beige". I may be among the minority, but I like sand beige cars...the ultimate of subtle, and if kept clean & waxed? "wayy cool", IMHO...because so few go for the color..
