turning signals don't work, pls help

I drove the car into the shop to fill up the A/C System with freon, when I picked the car up, the turning signals would not work, and shop said they have nothing to do with it.
I checked the fuses, but they are ok, what else should I check for?
The lights work, just the turning signals don't work, either side... the car is 82 911 SC

Thanks for any help

It has been my experience that turn signal switches fail over a long period of time. It is unusual for both side to stop working at once. How about checking the relay? Isn't there one for the sgnals? If all else fails, take off the steering wheel and take the switch apart and see if it is making proper connections. HTH

Or, there is a plug that goes from the t/s switch to the body under the dash. Unplug that, and the t/s stop working on both sides, as does the flasher.

Which lights work? Which signals don't work?

Are you saying all the running lights work as well as the headlights and brake lights?

Are you also saying that the front and rear Lt and Rt signals don't work.

If this is the case, then do the turn indicator lights in the tach also not work? If that's the case then I suspect your flasher is unhooked.

Does your hazard flasher work?

If not, there is another fuse upstream of the turn signal fuses (17 on my diagram). Another check is whether the turn signal relay has become unplugged. It's inside the dash behind the fuel/oil level gauge.
