PPI Questions

Can someone explain to me what I should expect from a PPI?
And how much it should cost?

I know from reading other post you get compression and leak down numbers. Can someone explain what the numbers mean and what are good and bad for a ’79 3.0 with 8000 miles on a top end rebuild?

Do you get any other information with the inspection?

Thanks in Advance

you need to tell the tech what you want done for the ppi......be specific (leakdown/compression test, etc.)
they should go over the whole car and look for anything out of the ordinary like previous body damage, rust, bushings, what works, what doesn't, etc.........

Generally, cost will be determined by how long it takes to complete the inspection.

I've had three PPI's done. One on a 944 that was $150. One on my '87 Targa that was closer to $200 (I asked them to pull the covers and check the studs...extra $$$) and one on an early car that ended up being cut short do to finding rust ($50ish I think). All done by different, but quite reputable, shops.

Edit: I see your in Tacoma. Are you able to bring the car to Seattle for a PPI? I assume it's a 911? John Walker's Workshop is the place to be....

Thanks Marc,

The car is out of state or John's would be the place I'd take it to by his reputation.
