Please, some help with the Workshop Manual ?

Hi,

My electrician and I are trying to fix the whole electrical sys of my 69 S.

In the re-assembling, my mechanic did a real mess.

We have some problems in the understanding of the meaning of some parts of the Workshop Manual, in particular with the SL section.

Can you please tell me what does CDS, SCR (SL 35) , WECO and BHKZ (SL 35) stand for ?

Many thanks in advance.

Ed.

In what context are these terms used? Where do you see them?

Ed,
Please tell us exactly which workshop manuals, section and page you are looking at with each question.
My Porsche workshop manuals do not seem to have a "SL" section...

Well, I bought the two workshop manuals in Stüttgart (Porsche) and they have a supplement section with the electrical diagrams for the 69, 70 & 71 models.

The description are related to those diagrams on pages SL-33 and SL-35.

My question is because I don´t know if my car was modified before I bought it, and is more related to a later model than the original 1969 diagram.

My electrician says that the photos in the manual do not correspond to the instalation actually in my car.

So we are trying to find out what do we have here.....

Ed,
My US Books do not have an SL supplement.

You can find the electrical diagrams here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/911_electrical_diagrams.htm

Can you post pictures, or other description of the problem(s) you are interested in?

From SL-33
CDS: Capacitive Discharge System
SCR: Don't know the name, but it appears to read the ignition coil and send a signal to the tachometer.
WECO: don't know the name, other than it being a 3-way connector

From SL-35
BHKZ: appears to be the CDS oscillator. Wired same as #8 on SL-33
