3.6 SC conversion preparation question (tearing stuff out)
I’m gutting the CIS wiring, which is mostly just the O2 sensor wiring now that the engine is gone. There is a small two wire harness (red & red/white) that runs from the O2 harness to the front of the car. I think that it’s coming off of the O2 sensor control relay and going to the fuse box and fuel pump relay (?). I’m not 100% b/c I didn’t want to destroy the harness insulation.
Can anyone confirm either where they go so I can disconnect them or that they are no factor so I can dike them off. TIA

the new harness should have it on it, you can always do a search 3.6 conversion 1-2-3-4 etc, Kevin

Try again this morning.
I’m thinking about diking them. The small harness looks way too much of a PITA to try and chase it under the dash and through to the luggage compartment. I don’t want to have to take the whole car apart during this project. Suggestions?

When I pulled the 3.0L I removed that harness, it goes off and into the luggage compartment near the pedal box if I remember correctly. One wire went to the fuse panel and the other to a spade connector near the fuse panel.

Thanks for the confirmation Todd. I’ll try to trace it through there before I grab the dikes.
This is starting to look like a good time to replace all the carpet. Will the ‘while your in there’s” ever end?

Ryan:
This is from the Work shop wiring diagrams for the 81SC OXY control wiring. On the schematic there are 2 red wires and one red/wht wire. first red wire starts at contact 30 of Oxy sensor relay and goes to fuse 18 (5A) a blk wire from the clock is also connected to the same terminal on the fuse. Second red wire Starts at the OXY test connector and goes to fuse 22 (25A) there is also a red/blk wire attached to the same terminal on the fuse. Red/Wht wire starts at terminal 86 on OXYsense relay and connects to a harness connector from there it goes to terminal 30 of the fuel pump relay. A blk wire is also connected to terminal 30 of the relay. I could not find any other wires of that color combination in the diagrams for the OxY sensor circuits. Is it possible that this connector with the 2 wires is for some other use and not the O2 sensor circuits.
