911 T Engine Value
What is the approximate value of a good running take-out 911T engine + 901 tranny from a 1971 911 T ? The engine has the stainles steel heat exchangers and the tensioner update. Just approximate value.

depends on a few things but id say low milage 3500 high 2500

Those numbers sound good to me, any documentation? Is it in the car to test drive? Any other early 911 drivers in AK? :-)

Wow, it varies. It can be $10K if everything was recently rebuilt, or it can be $500 if it's junk(well, probably not $500, add about $600 for the tensioners and exhaust). Need more details...
If it's a high mileage engine, it's not worth too much. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but the 2.2 T engines are not highly sought after for a few reasons: - Mag Case, not 7R - Non-counter weighted crank - Zenith carbs aren't very popular - T cams - T pistons - Small valved heads If you want to upgrade, it's typically better (more economical) to start with an 'E' engine and go from there... -Wayne

One more thing though, on the positive side, these 911T engines seem to last a very long time...

When I was searching for a used engine (2.2 T), the avg price of was about $2,500, running and in good condition about what yours is. I was surprised how fast they sold too. I opted not to buy someone else's used engine and had mine rebuilt instead (of course alot more $$!).

Thanks guys. Don't yet know what I am going to do. I am buying back a 1971 "T" that is rust free. A few dings, but no rust. The engine runs very well, but I have a serial number matching 67' "S" that I have stripped and will take years to complete. Sooo, my immediate thought was to drop the "T" engine + tranny, perhaps sell them to help with costs. Put he "S" motor in the "T" so I can have something to drive while the long process continues on the "S". When the "S" is ready , swap back and then make the "T" a hot-rod with a larger, later model motor. Anybody think I am making a mistake, or that my approach should be different? I can ship the "t" engine + tranny to the westcoast on a backhaul fairly cheaply.
