Twin plug conversion - mounting of twin spark boxes
Well the day has finally come and I am having my 911ST cloan finished. I have opted for a traditional 12 plug distributor, but am utilizing MSD's for spark control and timing retard. Not alot of space to stuff 4 control boxes on the drivers side rear engine compartment. I have seen some race cars with all this stuff mounted to the inside of the fire wall. Does anyone have any pictures of some exceptionally tidy/clean installations of these items that I can use for inspiration? Thanks. Jim

I've always wondered if they would be happy mounted upside down on the bottom of the rear package shelf....

ooooh! dat's a purty engine compartment
Randy the msd's can be mounted in any position. on the underside of the package shelf is a good idea- they are semi hidden there Otherwise, others have mounted them on an aluminum plate on the vertical panel behind the seats (below the back window) |

Thx -- how about the coils? There's some rumor that the coils cannot be mounted upside down...

That depends on the coil. MSD make one that can go upside down (High Vibration one), for instance. The Bosch one that goes with the BOSCH CDI is upside down in the factory position.
