Best seat under $300

I'm looking for a new drivers seat for track events. It would only be used for the 4-5 DEs a year and several autocross. I need it to lower my driving position so I can sit straight up in the car. It would also need to be relatively easy to get in and out...all for around $300....Any suggestions? Anyone one selling one or two cheap?

Jeff

You can get a Momo RS GT for under $300 ea. here:

R&W Performance

Note that the RS GT and RS2 GT don't have tilting seat backs. The back angle is adjustable with the rotary knob, but you can't flip a lever and tilt it forward like your current Porsche seats. To get that feature, you would need to get the Street Racer models or something like a Recaro SRD.

Check out kirkey seats. Aluminum, light, and inexpensive.

Check out Rennlist for a pair of Momo seats for $400. Missing sliders and adapters, but don't look bad for the money. They are nonreclining buckets.

A fixed bucket is the way to go, if it's just for use during events. Pelican sells the Sparco Ultima (I think?) for a very low price.

Check with your region on seat requirements before you spend any $$. My region says seats are part of the restraint system and must be of equal type. SO, I would not pass tech if I had a fixed drivers seat and a stock passenger seat. I got around this by installing a Corbeau on the drivers side to give me more headroom and lateral support. Both seats recline and I use stock belts still.

Good luck!

From what I can find the corbeau Forza seems to be a solid deal at $220 each. Anyone have any experience with these. The main reason for purchase is to give me some head room when I have a helmet on. Will these lower me some?

My understanding is it should be a 4 bolt in and out? Any input into these or anything similar would be very appreciated. I have another DE in 2 weeks and I'd live to get them in by then

Thanks

I have a set of Coubeau's, different type though, and yes they install with 4 bolts as do most all other seats. Seat bolts to brackets (4 bolts) and brackets bolt to seat rails (4 more bolts).

I've bashed the Forza II's before, but I recently saw a pic here and they looked much higher quality than how mine are upholstered.

The brackets however, put the seat too high and too close to the wheel. I ended up bolting mine to the floor, tilted slightly up in the front, with reinforcements on the underside.

Other people have had better results, I'll sell you my pair, no brackets for $100, come and pick up in NJ.
