O2 sensor Q...

Is it possible to "clean" a fouled O2 sensor? Also, is there a way to "easily" test the O2 sensor. I'm getting a Steve W. chip next week and want to make sure everything is cool..

Thanks!!

Supposedly you can clean an O2 sensor using a torch. I've never done it though.

I've tested what Chris suggested before. I used a propane torch and heated up the tip element with the flame until it was glowing red. That supposedly burns off all the carbon contamination and residues. Seemed like it works because the sensor looked very clean afterwards and was very responsive - not sure of the long term life though. I didn't spend much time evaluating it. I guess it depends on what fouled it before - if it was just excess carbon or something more permanent like silicone or lead.
