The driver side front trunk strut is the more difficult to replace. The problem is getting the pin into the hole. First prop the lid up high so you have easy access to the bottom mounting hole. The get a small needle nose vice grip to hold the head of the pin so you can insert it into the hole and with the other hand attach the clip.

+1 on doing whatever you can to secure the parts - those little pins and clips - so that they don't fall down behind the engine, never to be seen again. When I did mine, I looped light pieces of twine around them so that when I dropped them, I could easily retrieve them. Worked like a charm.

Ok, I must be doing something wrong, I cant find the part #. I need to replace the hood struts on my 89'.
