Well I had to wait until I was 32 to get my first Porsche, a 73E - Signal Orange ... I still have the little rust bucket! now im on my second porsche, an 87 Carerra I just purchased last month.

It amazes me how young'uns like y'all can afford a Porsche at 22. Then it dawned on me, Wait!!! I have 3 kids a mortgage and a very wallet savy wife (not to mention the nanny). No wonder it took me so long to make these purchases...

heres a couple of pics:

The Carerra

Now the Skittle:

She's a work in progress and for sale.

Regards,

Bruno

Bruno,
That's the only way that I can afford my 911.. Other than rent, food and tuition I have almost no expenses.

Nice looking E by the way.

Tim,

Thanks for the compliment. I hear you , If I were single right now, I'd be driving a brand new C4S. However, to be honest I would give all the goodies up for my wife and kids!! They're the world to me. I'm just fortunate to have both a family and the goodies

I know the feeling. I've been dating a girl now for 9 months (ya ya I'm a youngin') and I'd give up the porsche in an instant for her.

I'm more than twice your age but when I'm in a 911 I feel half that, just ask my wife. Nice looking car.

Daniel - Welcome. Love the car. Bought my first P-car when I was 26 (took me a little longer to get out of College?) and could not be w/o one! Regarding the tail - DON"T DO IT!. I love it just the way it is - maybe some new or polished wheels, but the rear lines of the SC/Carerra are something not be messed with. I actually have the Cab with a tail, but really miss the lines of the coupe w/o a tail.

I bought my first 911 when I was 22 and that was 27 years ago and I still have it. I just picked up an 87 TL in lagoon green metallic and it looks to be close to your color, these three stage paint jobs do seem to change colors depending on the light.

7's & 8's polished would look very nice, and lowered a little, if the car came stock with boge's (like my 87 ) switch them out for bilstein HD's the car will handle and feel much better also the first thing to go was that stock four spoke steering wheel, Pelican has the 930S steering wheels for a great price and that is a big improvement both in looks and feel.

Welcome to the board

What a great response, I feel so at home--thank you Pelicanites.
As requested by many of you I have taken some pics of the interior tonight after work and one of the engine. I was very fortunate that my parents started saving for my college a very long time ago and allowed me to attend a private liberal arts college at almost no cost to me (10k in student loans). I live at home so I really don't have any expenses other than paying them back for the car, insurance, and my own credit card bills.
Seeing pictures of all of your cars with the polished Fuchs just makes me want to call Al Reed and send them off but I have to get tires in the next week or two because my rears are slick. I am thinking the 930s wheel is going to make a wonderful Christmas present and mine is in need of replacing anyway. Guys don't worry about me knowing I can never go back to any other sports car, I know I am where I belong and things are only going to get better as I get older. My girlfriend of 3 yrs. fully understands my Porsche disease and has no plans on trying to cure it as long as it doesn't interfere with us. Last year for Christmas she got me the Bentley manual and 101 Porjects since I had put a deposit on the car (she is definetly a keeper). Thank you again for the warm welcome and if anyone needs any help or support just let me know.

Welcome. Sounds like your hooked. There is just something about these cars that gets under your skin.
I bought my first at 26. Sold my second at 36 to move to Montana
( wouldn't think of driving it on a dirt road ). But the hook was still there.
Someone asked me to test drive a car for them about 5 years ago.
I was hooked again. THERE IS NO SUBSITUTE !!

Enjoy ................. the more you drive it the better it gets.

Right now there 5 at my house. ALL ON A DIRT ROAD. Still car sitting an 88 Cab.

WOW, I thought I was one of the youngest! I'm 26 and I bought my first just 5 months ago. Best decision I have ever made. It took me a little longer than most to get out of college also. I was just having too much fun. I also have a girlfriend of several years, and she understands my obsession and doesn't question. I have always dreamed of owning a Porsche since I can remember. I finally convinced my father to buy one a few years ago (88 targa), and from then on, I HAD to have one. I found the perfect one for me, and haven't looked back. There is nothing like going to P-car shows with my father driving one or both of our 911s. Congrats, and have fun with it!!!!
(and be careful, these cars are much faster than they feel)

I did the Momo wheel instead of the 930s - both very worthwhile upgrades IMHO

Hey Bruno, how much for your E?

Nice car, and welcome aboard.

I waited until I was 34 for my first Porsche (and I'm not looking back).

I'll make sure my son catches the bug a bit sooner!
