MSD Tach adapter Question

I've been outting a MSD 6A in my cousin's 1983 911SC, just got around to installing the tach adapter, Got everything mounted, except for I dont know what wire in the engine bay goes to the tach and to terminal "TD" any help? I really would prefer to use an existing wire, rather than having to route a new one

The black wire with the purple stripe from the cd box is to the tach. Hope that helps.

Is it located in that connector block at the very rear of the electrical panel on the left side?

If you mean the 14pin harness connector then I'm not sure. When I swapped the 3.0 for my 2.7 I couldn't get my tach to work. I found that the black wire with purple stripe from the cd box was grounding out in the 14pin connector. I removed it from that connector and spliced it into the 2 wire connector by the cd harness, one is red for something else while the other is for the tach. Now it works fine. Souk seems to know a lot about these, so if your still stuck pm him.

These are the two threads I used to install my Crane HI-6, Jared:

MSD Install Notes for SC

MSD wiring advice (connectors)

Are you sure a tach adapter is necessary for that SC? Let me know if you get stuck.

A tach from a 79 works using the tach output on the MSD box. Try that before you buy an adapter.

I already have the adapter. So basically i just have to look for the black/purple wire under the engine relay board, then splice the tach adapter lead in, right?

Like others, I wanted to keep the old wires untouched and retain the factory 6-pin harness, so I got some male spade connectors from Fry's and plugged them right in. A splice is definitely more reliable, but I'm not concerned about the plugs coming loose.
