Ignition control in fuse box - won't start
After running the car hard on the track yesterday, the car would not start after getting it off the trailer. This problem seems identical to a starting problem I had previously where the engine tries to turn over (starter engaged) but won't fire due to lack of spark.
The problem was fixed by my mechanic last time and it was a loose ignition control plug in the fuse box. Hopefully its the same thing, but where do I look for this? Anyone have a picture to point me to the right place in the fuse box? The car is an '83 SC but has a '84 Carerra engine. Thanks.

I'd say wiggle all the fuses and relays you can find. Also, there are (or used to be) two rectangular plugs in the engine compartment. One on the engine compartment fuse block/relay panel, and the other is at the base of the fire wall behind the #3 cylinder. Wiggle those. Wiggle everything.

Have you checked the DME relay?

My car just had a starting problem the other day, It was a combo of dirty fuel pump fuse, and the big red relay in the front fuse panel was loose.
Get Jiggy with it!

Which one is the fuel pump fuse? My fuse box looks like a big tangled mess of 20 year old wires and missing relays:

Jake the fuel pump has a relay and it is the same as the DME relay. I know you have a new DME, but do you have a new relay?

Did you take the fuse out and clean the ends with sandpaper?
If you dont have a clean contact area it can cause a problem. That was my issue.

Jake,
Does it turn over at all? When the starter motors get old, they seize up on track days due to the heat factor causing expansion. Mine did this like clockwork untill I had it replaced. Have you tried roll starting it?

The starter is almost brand new, a high torque version from our host. The last time this problem developed I replaced the starter and DME relay before bringing it to the shop. After an $85 tow, it was a loose connection in the fuse box. I spoke to them on the phone and he said 'ignition control in the fuse box', so maybe I have fuel and no spark (haven't checked the plugs yet). Either way, I am convinced its the same issue as before and electrical in nature.
I'll try pulling out #6 and giving it a good cleaning. What exactly does the #6 fuse do? Does anyone have a map of the fuse box?
