I need help with a 964 winshield part number

I need help with a 964 winshield part number
I want to install a trimless front rubber seal and winshield on my 77 911. I was told on this board that a 964 seal and windshield would do the trick. I found the seal on Pelican and I'm trying to get a local glass company to quote me a price for the glass and an install. They are having problems looking the part number up.

What year is the 964, and do they look for 911 or 964 for the model number? One guy says his book does not show a 964, only 911 and 911 carrera. Another guy said the glass alone was $1800.00 plus install.

Help please
Rick

Tell the glass guy 1990-1994. That rules out the 1989 changeover year where the traditional 2WD 911 was called a 911 and the 4WD Carrera 4 is a 964 (even though the 2WD 911 did use the trimless seal for the glass). Reason I say this is the glass shop reference book might lump some of the cars together that actually used different glass years ago, but can use the same glass today if desired (if that makes any sense.....)

Most important thing is to make sure you get the proper gasket with the proper glass. Some say they've used a 964 gasket with 911 glass and it worked. I test fit a 964 gasket on my 911 windshield and there was no way it was going to work for me. Fit MUCH too loosely. Get a 964 seal- the OEM Porsche are said to be better- and 964 glass and you're gold. Hopefully it won't hurt your wallet too much?

Thanks everyone for the input,

I have already ordered the seal from Pelican for the 89 911, so I think I'm good to go. Now I just have to convince my glass guy that it's going to work. He does not really want to do it. Two others have sent me away. They say it cant be done "It's the wrong part number for a 77" dah
