Shifting Problem When Hot
My '71 911 was working just fine today, until I hit bumper to bumper traffic jam. About half an hour into the traffic, I began to get some gear grinding when trying to shift into 1st - a little at first, but as the traffic jam progressed, shifting into 1st became impossible...like the syncro was gone. I pulled off into a parking lot, and found that reverse was doing the same thing. All other gears were fine, and double clutching, or engaging 2nd before 1st did not make a difference.
Went in for dinner, and about an 1.5 hrs of cool down later the car shifted just like butter again. Thought maybe the clutch cable had stretched, but the cool down remedy would seem to discount that idea. Anybody got a thought?

When was the las time you changed your trans fluid?
Replace it with Swepco 201, but I use 212 as it seems to work better when things get really hot.
