BB@ -- Jack/Tyson/other Evil members

That article was very interesting ... now that I could finally read it after the shipping delays.

What is the weight and F/R distribution of BB2? The article talked about the concepts, but didn't actually give the numbers.

And do you know how much wt. was saved by killing off the t-bar tubes/mounts?

You guys did a Great piece of work!

Thanks. Tyson may have the corner balance numbers handy -- I don't. It's going back for another alignment before the end of the month, though.

Here's the link.

That really is an amazing feat-in only 12 weeks! I never knew that there was a live webcam involved. Did you save any or all of it? I'd love to take a look at it. My hat is off to you Jack. You are the man!

Hah, we overloaded that poor thing until it got beefed up too! Good entertainment for several weeks...

If you've got some time (and patience), here are the links to the threads that covered the creation of my car:

One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine
Ten
Eleven

Scattered in there are some images from the camera at Kevin's shop. (As an aside, the article implies that the camera was my idea. It wasn't. Kevin just thought guys on Pelican would enjoy seeing the transformation.)

Thanks -- I hope Evil member will chime in.

I thought the article tied it all together better than looking at the cam and reading posts did during the creation (re-creation?).

I'd like to see the next featured early hot rod combine all the techniques used in all previous 4 cars (yours, the yellow Gamroth car, the ultra-lights: Carbon Copy and Jim Calzia's purple car). A real monster could be made from all that R&D work.

Kudos Jack!
I just read though the link you posted. Man, the boys @ Excellence dedicated a lot of pages to you.

It's nice to see BB2 published. Congatulations on the article.

Off the top of my head, the car weighed 2380 with 1/4 tank of fuel. The weight distribution was 39/61.

That's from corner balance scales though, so their accuracy is suspect.

We just bought some scales for our own shop, and the rack should be here shortly along with an alignment machine.
We'll recheck Jack's car on brand new scales and report later.

That's an improvement on BB1's 63/37 split, in spite of the fact that BB1 had heavy steel doors with power windows up front.

And I rounded up. It was actually more like 39.5/60.5 F/R.

Yeah, it's hard to keep good weight distribution with a 3.6 liter in a light car. The engine and trans mass doesn't change, but the whole car around it gets lighter. The only sesnsible option was to move that heavy mass forward in the car.

In the Excellence article... the only thing missing would have been the pic of the POS roller that BB2 started as. I think that was posted here in the forum at one point...and its amazing... the transformation that the car went through.

It is cool... I wrote POS, but knew that that could be taken the wrong way...sorry! Its just the way that its presented in that picture, would have been a great accompaniment to the article in Excellence.

Actually, I dont think any 911 could really be considered a POS.

No, I was joking. It was hard to love, early on -- is that some kind of cell phone antenna on the front? And of course the flaking, rattle-can painted Fuchs, splayed wiper arms, and 'Wax it? It never even needed a wax.' paint job.

But that was actually Black Beauty #1, was it not? (In the picture).
