A set of 16 in. phone dials from a 86 944 Turbo

Front is 16x7 +23.3mm o/s with 205/55 Yoko AVS ES100
Rear is 16x8 +23.3mm o/s with 245/45 Yoko AVS ES 100

Here's what it normally looks like

The usual 16x6, 16x7 Fuchs with 205/55, 225/50 Kumho Ecsta MX.

All opinions are welcome.

The dials are to be used for autocrossing and the occasional DE, so they aren't replacing the Fuchs. No way!

I think they look good. If they are just for auto-X and DE don't worry about it. No one laughed at my "Miami Vice" gold honeycombed OZ's at the DE!

Drive with the Fuchs, and track the dials man!

You gonna make Gingerman with them dials? I wanna find out if the "Unicorn" has any steam in her? Or will a lowly Gruppe B car make her head back to the Enchanted Forest for another year of hidding in the garage?

I think they look cool. I always wanted to get some and powder coat them orange and put them on my '76 before I flared it....

I always kinda liked phone dials back in the 80's. They aren't as good as Fuchs, but they look good on your car and with the extra inch will make good track wheels.

Anybody ever see any "Chromed" phone dials? Might look pretty good, esp on a black car.

For your needs their great, easy to clean and a rugged wheel.
I think they even came on 911's in 84 ? These may be the first signs of a future water pumper??

Nobody will laugh even if you have STEEL wheels and spank them at a DE! Those are pretty cool.

Easy.......................

Head out to Maywood Park this weekend and see what the autocross has to offer. Then we'll see how much steam the Unicorn has. The stopwatch doesn't lie. Much unlike the fish stories that come out of DE events..................

Gingerman is a small fortune for a lowly civil servant, single homeowner like myself! Maybe the next Blackhawk event would be a little more merciful on the K-man's wallet?

Kev, if you can't do the whole weekend, come out Friday night for open track and hang out. I think open track is $50, and you are half way there already!

The 16x8 rears are kinda dog doo. They were pretty grim when I got 'em. I think there was 17 years of unmolested brake dust and balancing weight remnants on the back of them!!! And a couple of dings/bends in the inner rim flange on one of the 8's was a little disappointing. Nothing a few smacks with a baby sledge and brass drift couldn't fix though.........

I already got a water pumper. The Jap kind. That's plenty in my book.

Believe it or not, the phone dials were the stock wheels for the late-model Carrera (I have factory literature to prove it). The Fuchs were an option that was almost always ordered by the dealer.

It'll get tracked one of these days. That's pretty much why I got the phone dials.

Pictures give the car more credit than it's due (I thought the pictures of the 16x8's looked good before I bought them- then I saw them in person!!!!

) Sure it's shiny, but the paint is pretty tired in most places.

Yeah, it's silly clean. Had to have something to do to scratch my car itch over the winter. So I got down and dirty and cleaned all of the 62K miles of gook off of it. Once you get rid of all the crud, it's easy to keep clean. The key is that I don't drive it every day. A few times during the week and on the weekends. Might get caught in the rain once in a while, but that's no biggie. Winter is out of the question. De-icing "salt" in our area is downright vicious. That stuff is currently working on making a hole in the oil pan of my Plymouth Laser RS Turbo!

My favorite cleaner is the citrus-based spray on stuff called Xenit. It's some nasty stuff. One whiff and your nose is clear as a bell!
