82 SC O2 controller prob
The O2 sensor/Lambda controller on my 82 seems to be failing. After the engine is fully warmed up, the idle speed often runs up to 1400-1800 RPM. Unplugging the O2 sensor drops the idle to normal.
I replaced the O2 sensor, but no change. Anyone else ever had this problem? I need to fix this to pass the local emissions testing here in the DFW area. Regards, Jerry

You may have a ground problem in the car, e.g. the engine to the body to
the Lambda unit. Try grounding the O2 wire and see if you get the same results. The engine should probably make black smoke. Then connect the O2 wire to +12, and the engine should become very lean and almost die. These are good tests for the Lambda control unit. Checkall the wiring connections. Check out this website (www.systemsc.com) on the Diagnostic page under Poor Running. Have Fun Loren '88 3.2
