Pic request: 964 with Fuchs

The other day a pic was posted of a blue 964 with a Ducktail, ruf mirrors, and Carrera script. Awesome looking car. The car had 18" Cup 1's on it. It really looked great, but I couldnt help but wonder what it look like with a set of Fuchs.

Heres the car

Has anyone fit a set of Lindsay's 2 or 3 piece 17" Fuchs to a 964 yet? Anybody have a pic or a photoshop effort of a 964 with Fuchs?

Thanks.

On a side note, I was watching "Along Came a Spider" on TNT the other night. I didn't get a close look at Morgan Freeman's Porsche, but it seemed to be a 964 with Fuchs.

I may be wrong, but I think Fuchs on a 964 would be a real funky offset. The hub sits further outboard so the barrel of the wheel would have to sit way inboard. Not sure if that's right or just my imagination.

It'd probably look like on of the deep 6's. and yes, off set would have to be huge 55's worked on my C2- Just the opposite of the deep dish effect.

I'm pretty sure that was a SC.

When I had watched the movie before, I had thought it was an older car. However, when I watched it a few nights ago, the front bumper looked like a 964 bumper.

It's of no consequence - I'm probably wrong.

Here's a couple shots of a fellow board member LPSGT2's C2 conversion, still on Fuchs:

-'89 Fuchs have too little + o/s to be used on '89 964 or 993. They will stick out too far if the effort is made.

remember more (+) o/s moves the hub outboard, i.e. the tire move inboard.

Of course a replics 964/993 built on a -'89 chassis will need the earlier o/s wheels

Maybe this will finally make it clear why it will be difficult to make it work. I'm sure someone will eventually do it and prove us all wrong...

John, thanks or the visual aid. I knew there was a good reason I had not been able to find any pics of a 964 w/fuchs.

Nice drawing John.

So if someone were to have a set of Lindsey racing 17" fuchs built for a 964 or 993, they would look like 6" 'ers or maybe 7's from the outside. You wouldn't get that 8 or 9" look, even if they were 9 or more inches wide.

These are 15" Fuchs on an "updated" SC. Not a 964, but you get the idea what a custom offset wheel might look like. These are 15x9 front and 15x12 rear using 930 flares.

Nice "updates". I'm always tempted to update mine, but my mechanic has dissuaded me and keeps telling me to keep my unmodified.

Just out of sheer curiosity, how did you find/will find tires for those wheels?

The wheels and tires are both "old school" and no longer available.

Rims: Front - 15x9 stock Porsche from RS or RSR
Rear - 15x12 (actual measurement 11.5) 3-piece Compomotive.
Custom offset all to the inside.

Tires: Front - Yokohama AVS Intermediates 255/45-15
Rear - Same brand 345/35-15

I have one set of new 345s left, no 255s. So when the fronts go I'll have to buy 17" rims/tires.

Out of curiosity, why would anyone want to put Fuchs on a 964?
Part of owning a newer Porsche is the bragging rights of owning a newer Porsche. Fuchs would tend to make people believe you have converted an older 911 to look like a 964.
My car is a bit different. I just through together all things Porsche that I like into one package. And I don't mind telling anyone that the car that just smoked them is a '78.

I would be interested in doing it. As a next 911 I'm interested in 964s due to the relitavely low prices. With the weather over here a C4 would be handy too. I would like to backdate it though to the longhood look.
