dd74 mentioned a bike against a Porsche on Latigo. The bike would have
no problem. I ride Latigo often, but I would not want to be riding Latigo when a Porsche rally is happening, i.e. too dangerous. It's bad enough worrying about the resident homeowners without the addition of Porsches. Loren '88 3.2, '04 BMW Boxer Cup, '01 Ducati 996 |
Waiting for photos with baited breathe!
Hope all was safe and fun. Mark |
Sh-t...I overslept and missed it. Have to catch the next one. Hope you guys had a great time.

Just got back to the boat from the run.
Weather was fantastic! No Car vs. Bicycles, Motorcycles, or fatal encounters with the black and whites. I think I counted 16 at Gelson's. I will work on downloading the pics, I know everyone back east (brrrrrrrr) will love them. Bright sunshine, didn't have to use the A/C, even had the heater cracked slightly open with the sunroof and both windows open. I was third in line on one of the 'catch up' stretches, Jack Olsen up front, and we hauled it down from 5K in fifth to idle in third just as a sheriff pulled out of his hiding spot. We were very lucky. Lunch was great, is always great to put faces to the screenames. |
I am glad I made it, but kinda bummed I missed the meal (wife was hounding me to do the chores).
Nice roads, light traffic, and beautiful weather - no to mention the wonderful note of flat-6's resonating off the canyon walls! Looking forward to the next one! |
Great fun -- while I could hang around.
My '73E is so recently completed, I barely had 170 miles on it, so the first leg of today's run got it hotter than ever before -- as witnessed by the paint blisters on the license panel(!) Coming down Piuma behind Wayne's Ferrari, I was getting a lot of backfiring, so decided to truncate the run. Big fun, guys. Glad everyone kept it on the road! |
A great run all! Those twisties really brought things alive. I loved red-lining in third gear and all the drifting in and out of the corners. Now I know not to challenge a GT3 with my paltry '74 3.0. But at least I got to blow by a Ferrari - twice...:D
Sorry, Wayne. Cool car nonetheless. Of course, PCH was the most perilous. Jack, you're a very, very bad boy, playing into my own bad boy habits. Were we really doing 115 mph? :D What a great time! Thanks all! :D |
I counted 20 cars at Gelsons plus the GT3 we picked up.
The run was as good as it get's. :D |
What a great run! That's the first time I've really run the DB4 since I rebuilt the engine about 600 miles ago. Oil pressure high, water temp normal (water, what's that for you ask?). While the suspension is good, compared to the pcar, it corners somewhat like that old pickup truck full of gardening equipment that I was trying to pass. I'm glad you guys didn't mind a token piece of British trash tagging along.

I just posted photos in the newer thread Wayne started.

It was a great drive and my son took a few pictures. So here is some of his work behind the lense.

I have learned not to argue with a hungry 6 year old or a pregnant wife. You never win.;) Thanks again to everyone who made it. It was a great drive. |

I can attest to that, Bob. I live near Kanan & PCH and got a ticket for 61 in a 50 in August -- in my Jeep.
Worse, it was laser, not radar. When you get a laser 'warning', it might as well just debit your bank account on the spot. |
