It works - pretty well. I meant to switch this over and try it when we went to a dedicated search server last year, but completely forgot about it, until I tried to search for CIS tonight, and realized that the server was set to only index 4 characters and greater.
This should be a big improvement. -Wayne

No offense intended to the search method embedded in the forum. But I much prefer using this method:
(1) http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en (2) input your search terms in related fields (3) in last field: "Search within a site or domain:" put "pelicanparts.com" I use to have problems with 2 characters and numerical numbers. So I just used this work around, and I found it's yielded better results sometimes than when I do pelican. I will say though, that pelicanparts forum title searches confined to a specific forum (for me 911 Technical and/or Rebuilding) are my favorite quick/easy way to search. Okay, now I just wasted another 3 minutes of my day. Hope it was of some use to someone. |

I suppose this should be an added incentive for people starting a thread to sorta describe the topic in the title. Makes it easier than searching for something located in "Oops, I pulled a boner" or something similar.

You can also attach an asterisk to a short search term (example: *SC) at this and other forums to force a search. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
