Can I use 16x6 with 16x8's

I just bought a set of nice wheels at a great price but find that I have 16x6's to run on the front, with the 16x8's that I wanted for the back. Is this a dumb set up?

Are they Fuchs? That is perfectly fine.

1989 911's came equiped standard with 16X6 & 8 Fuchs according to the "911 Authenticity Series". Tires were 205/55 & 225/50....I think it will look good.

Keep an eye out for some cheap 16x7s, you can even use the same tires as on the 6s. The 7s arent that popular so they can be had cheap and you can sell the 6s as donors for 17s and recoup most of the money. It will look fine with 6s and 8s though.

16 6's and 8's came on my car when I bought it (89 911) and are a great combination. I later changed to a pair of 7's up front and then 8' and 9's. (Hey, why not own every size fuch made ).

My personal preferance is running the 7's versus 6's because the dish is deeper on the 7's. I had to role the driver side fender even though I'm still using stock tire sizes but my cars been lowered. 7's houldn't cost much more than what the 6's are worth. Refinishing all 4 wheels to match was my biggest cost consideration.

Thanks, Yes they are fuchs and they DID come off of a 89, 911. I will post some pics as soon as they are on the car. I think they have 215/50's on the front and 245/50's on the back.

If you look closer, the 245's might be /45's instead of /50's in order to keep the tire diameters the same as the 215/50's up front.

I should be getting them on Tuesday or Wednesday, I will probably get new tires anyway since I don't know what these have been through. What are my best choice for F/R sizes? I thought I would go slightly larger diameter in back to compensate for the speedo reading about 8 MPH fast at 70, plus I think it would look better.

Instead of larger rear tires, why not adjust your speedo? I read somewhere here on the board that there is a screw in the back on your gage that adjusts a rheostat in the speedo. You might want to give that a shot.

I had it out and gave it the once over, I would have to drill a hole in it to get to the screw and opted not to. I should send it in to North Hollywood Speedo for a recalibration.

Don't know how well this will format. Using a 26" tire diameter, the inside number is the height of the tire from edge of rim. On the 83, I have 205/55 on 7x16 and 254/45 on 8x16. I'm using this table to "imagine" the widest tires I can fit on 7x15 and 8x15 fuchs
