Ops Check good!

Found the rev limiter tonight, a couple times actually. It’s really hard not to when you hit 75 mph in second, I don’t have an excuse for hitting it in third. This was the stock chip setting, the performance side gives me 400 more rpms I believe.

For the second time tonight, OMG! It is so f-in’ fast, when you hit that first-second shift right, you don’t even get a chance to give the foam in the seats a break, it just keeps pushing you further back.

The second-third shift is amazing though. You are up to 100 in seconds, and still being firmly held in place. I will either have to drive the freeway in third or hook the CC up to keep my speed in check.

The car feels just as balanced through the turns as it did w/ the 3.0, I just can't lay into the accelerator as fast/hard coming out them, yet. I can’t wait to get this beast out on the track and really see what she can do.

Thanks for everyone’s advice from start to finish. I would have never done this conversion if not for the great guys I’ve met on this board and from everyone’s willingness to help both on and off line. You guys ROCK!

Oh no, it’s worse than I thought!

Updates are here on the install thread.

Basically, Dropped it on Tuesday night and replaced the flywheel seal b/c the old one popped right out. The clutch disk was dry, that was amazing. Installed it Saturday night, finished hooking it up and drove it Sunday night. Not bad for having to work all weekend.

How are the oil temps with the two fender mounted oil coolers? I am so jealous.

After running it hard for about an hour the temps got to 210, right where the fan kicks in. If I just cruise for about five min afterward it drops right back to 200. If I take it easy from the start, 200 is as high as I've seen but the temps have been cool the past couple weeks.

Scott, no dates on BBRIV yet but I'm thinking about it. We will either have to do it soon or wait 'til the end of spring.

I think my speedo is a little off. I don't see how the speeds can be where they are in second gear. I'm thinking that when I show 80 I'm really at about 70. Anybody have a radar gun, that isn't a cop of course?

Ryan, if no one has a radar gun, try finding someone with a portable GPS. Oil temps sound good for now, but I am no expert.

I wish, I promised a buddy, a couple months ago, that I would help him move Sat. I'm really ready for a get together, but 'tis the season for no time. At least I got the car done before the event coordinator filled in all the blanks.

Ryan, I also have a GPS, which you'd be welcome to use at one of these runs to check your speedo.

Thanks guys, I just ordered a G-Tech pro, couldn't pass it up for $50, will it work for checking the speedo?

RE: BBRIV

Let see how Todd's car does before we set a date but we'll keep January in mind. I'd hate to see somebody miss it b/c their car is broke. I'm sure you can relate Scott.

You guys should be a little more carefull with raising the Rev-limit ,there is a Reason why Porsche sets it to 6800 .
I have a Engine on the Stand right now with a broken Rockerarm/valvesprings/Valve due to over-Rev .
It has only 60 K miles on it and was driven by a woman until she sold it last Week to a younger Guy in the late 20s . First thing he installed was a chip with Rev. limit set at 7100 and than tried it on the Autobahn doing 295 Km/h (180 +Mp/h) at ca. 7000 RpM for about 5 Minutes .
I know the Woman and the Car for a long Time and she took really good Care ( all Services, Oilchanges, etc. ) the Engine was in very good shape and destroyed due to over- Rev .
So if you have to have a higher Limit replace the Valvesprings and Rodbolts to be on the safe Side . Or leave it as it is and SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR if you need more Speed .
And keep in mind that those Engines are 10 -15 Years old ,used and have a xxKmiles on them and much more important a lot of hot/cold cycles with Stress and distress .
So dont ruin it and blame it on the Engine-Source !!
happy Holidays to all : harald

I wouldn’t do that Harald.

FWIW, it was mostly an accident, it just came so quick. It was with the stock chip and it hit at about 6400-6500 and never went over that, I have not hit it since then and don’t plan on making it a habit.

Happy Holidays!
