I always thought you took the "oo" sound from roof and shortened it a little.

Yep, it's Roof. For years I've thought it was Rough, but the Discovery Channel thing on the Autoban had Ruf play a big part of the show and they all pronounced it Roof.

HAHAHAHA. this is funny because Americans (some) and Canadians pronounce roof differently, so in type it still can be pronounced differently.

I say roooof, you (some) say ruff.

so it's tomato, tomato, potato, potato....now say aluminum

So, me and my talking dog visit a friend who does not believe he can talk.

I ask my dog, what grows on the side of trees? He says bark!

I ask my dog, how does bark feel? He says rough!

I ask my dog, what is on top of my house? He says roof!

I ask my dog, who was the greatest baseball player of all time? He says Ruth!

At that, my friend throws us out of the house.

My dog turns to me and says: Maybe I should have said DiMaggio?

Woof

Actually, Germans round their R's to make a W sound. So it more like "WOOF".

Give it a shot with your Porsche friends, they will think you are German savy and "in the know".

Gordo, a German R does not sound like a W. It's a "rolling" R with some tongue--chicks dig it.

My dog has expressed interest in these cars. Many times as a matter of fact. He has good taste.

An Economics Adviser to President Kennedy and Proffessor of Econ at Claremont Mens College tried that one on me when I was 8 years old. He would tell me he taught my dog how to talk, but I would have to pay him $200 for her to start talking to me. He always gave me a demostration of the dogs capablities by asking her the question, "Who is the greatest baseball player?" My dog would always reapond "Ruth" I cured him of his liitle joke by telling him that I told all my friends parents that he said he could teach dogs how to talk....

It's pronounced like 'woof' (as in a dog's bark) but with an 'r' in place of the 'w'.
