Yeah, about an hour and a half seems to be a good estimate in a Porsche. I went from San Diego - Pacific Beach - in an hour 45 when I was driving my friend's brand new G-35 at 11:00 at night - average speed was close to 100.

You should make the trip, it would be worth the time spent.

Hey, I can rent a Boxter for $300. But you guys wouldn't talk to me if I did would you?
seriously, the Snowflake Rally is the 25th so I can't do it anyway.
Is the footage in Randy Newman's "I love LA" video of Mulholland? The bit where the Caddy peeks out from behind the 308??

You guys are killin' me! Another run?? Sigh...well, I do have a trip to Las Vegas for business the prior week,...hmmmmmm, how far away is Vegas?? I could expand my trip....

Of course, thinking about it, my 911 won't be with me. :( Oh well, have fun guys!

Santa Barbara has an airport and I think there are direct flights from Las Vegas to SBA....

Is this still happening?

Jack Olsen 01-12-2004 05:52 PM

Yes. 9 am at the Gelson's.

We all bring a Porsche and a full tank of gas. Then we try and keep up with Tyson. ;)

speeder 01-12-2004 06:04 PM

I will be out of town that weekend on business, and believe me, I almost said that I wouldn't go. Hard to explain the importance of a Pelican gathering to this employer, though. :)

speeder 01-12-2004 06:05 PM

And a 1/2 tank more than handled the TRE run for me.

surflvr911sc 01-12-2004 06:29 PM

Unless I'm in Santa Barbara, I'll be there!

RSupdate 01-12-2004 06:43 PM

Sorry!!!

Can't make it....will be doing a TT at streets both Sat & Sun....and then Monday the 26th, will be over at Big Willow for the day:D

surflvr911sc 01-12-2004 06:45 PM

RSupdate 01-12-2004 06:59 PM

All the best...!!!

To ya Ryan,

I have to admit I am part of the "lurking" fanclub of your 3.6 transplant......

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the OTR event on the 21st...I've pretty much committed to the PCA Zone 8 Time Trial circuit in '04...which leaves me penniless...

 :D

Have a little extra fun for me, O.k.???

Cheers!!!

surflvr911sc 01-12-2004 07:02 PM

You bet John! Good to hear from you and I hope to see you and your lovely assistant soon. ;)

The Gelson's? Where's that? Last time was the Reel Inn.

Zeke 01-15-2004 03:18 PM

CHILI, you're good at getting lost. Start at the Reel Inn and go up the road. They'll come blowin' by somewhere along the way! :D

Seriously, Gelsons Market is off the 101 at Mullholland and is where they start from. They eat at the RI after (which is probably a good idea).

dd74 01-15-2004 03:20 PM

Chilli - Gelson's is on Mulholland. To get there, take the 101 N., get off on Topanga. Take Topanga west to Mulholland ('bout 3 miles). At Mulholland, make a right, go around the bend to a shopping center-like place, and Gelsons is in there on the northwest corner. We park closest to the street so we can make our quick getaway. We've never eaten at the Reel Inn after one of these runs. We're fixated on Coogies now. Good big pancakes with lots of syrup, butter and niacin pellets after you finish eating.

Zeke 01-15-2004 03:23 PM

dd, shouldn't your status line read 'Quack-land'?

That's what "Lightly Feathered" is for. "Quake-land" means L.A...in my own mind, of course. :D

Zeke 01-15-2004 03:28 PM

Right, I meant location. I mean, you do work at Quack-land, right?

dd74 01-15-2004 03:30 PM

I don't follow you, Zeke...
