Help? Bumper upgrade project...
Couple of quick questions (I am doing a RUF (BW) front and rear bumper upgrade):
- I noticed references to swapping the front and rear bumper shocks, then shortening the new rear shocks. If the intent is to keep the bumper shocks is this what is required? - in the left front fender there are two reservoirs. I am assuming the larger one is for the windshield washer what is the smaller reservoir on the top of it? - has anyone installed the front bumper without using any rubber welting between the body and fiberglass? Thanks ...pictures to follow shortly. Andy 81 911SC Black |

You Don't have to use the welting, it just makes the job better looking. You can add the welting at a later date if you choose. You use the front shocks on the back. I had to cut off the bolts on the end & weld the bar on for rear bumper clearance. I bought the front nerf bar from BW, & it bolts in place of the front shocks. Craig

Thanks again Craig....
question....how did you fasten the middle part of the front bumper...I can see the sides are easy using the factory holes . Seems like it the top of bumper will need to be drilled/attached from the top. How did you do it? Thanks Andy 81 911SC |

Andy, you also use the factory holes on the face of the tub, where your rubber smile was attached . Craig

The hydraulic bumper shocks cannot be shortened only the collapseable bumper struts as used on the euro cars can be shortened.
When I did mine the rear struts were used to mount the front nerf bar to the front bumper mount of the chassis and the front struts were shortened and used to mount a rear nerf bar to the stock rear mounts.
