What is the going rate for a windshield installed. I have an 85 turbo look coupe. The German made W/S is more than the domestic.

I have to ask the same question - I got a big rock chip on my way to work yesterday. Hopefully if I find a reasonable price I will let you know. I don't have an antenna in the windshield (84 Targa).

I had my front windshield replaced a couple of months ago and they put in a windshield without the top tint for ~175 installed. They did an awsome job and I love it.

Quoted $750 installed with new seal ($75 for seal).
With antenna OR heated windshield (yup I'm thinking about that one)

I need the antenna in the windshield.. The best price I have found is around $600.00 with a new molding, top tint, antenna in the glass, installed @ my home. This was the cheapest I could find locally. The next best was over $1000.00. Matt- you got a bargain!!

I've replaced my windshield 3 times in as many years...first time was due to milking in the corners. Second due to a faulty/wavy replacement, third one due to a Ferrari with sticky track rubber at Summit Point. $1250 each time from the dealer for a heated one in my 84 Carrera. I installed myself each time. I actually only had to pay once, insurance covered the other.

Well, I've heard it's much cheaper in SoCal, but here in Houston I found two places that would do it, the dealer for $908, and another place for ~$650, either way I was going to be paying $500.
If it's just a rock chip they can fix those. If it's one of the round bulls-eye styles they'll probably be impossible to find, but if it's the star type chip you may still be able to see a little.

I did have to buy the seal seperately, but glass + install labor was $175. Pat S went to the same guy and got the same deal. They are THE experts here in the Denver area and also do Targa rear windows (they did mine). The glass is $150, but it is not Porsche brand glass (as if I really care). All that mattered to me is good glass, good price, expert installation (please dont tear up my new seal). It's a father-son company which I really like supporting as well.

I recently purchased a new windshield (no antenna) on ebay from a guy that has many 911 windshields for sale. I paid $195 + $30 for shipping. I believe it is a Porsche Factory windshield. It's scheduled to be delivered today. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I've replaced mine many times. It's always been in the $150-200 range, but I don't have an internal antenna.
I can't think of any reason to pay more for a non-performance-related consumable.

Jack,
I have seen quotes from local glass shops well over $350.00, where are you getting these? Thanks- I'm sure I could do the changeover myself, but I'd rather let someone else be liable for any problems!

I had mine done for less than $200 twice. In Orange County, City of Westminster (I think), along Westminster Blvd, in between Harbor and Euclid, on the North side of the street.
Sorry, no names or address that can be rememberd

You need to shop around, but I paid something like $170 installed not too long ago through Safelite. However, more recently, their price had gone up. But KevinP73 subcontracted my most recent one, in the course of doing some other body work, and the price was in the same (under $200) ballpark.
It might be a good idea to talk to some independent body shops in your area.

964 seal
Can you use the 1989 and later 964 windshield seal to install the windshield in a pre '89 911?
It seems from the internet the glass part number is the same, and using this seal would get ride of the trim pieces.
