My first DE this past May--wow--what a hoot. Now I'm spending all my discretionary income on my car and taking loans out on my 401k to make it faster. I need to start up a meth lab to support my Porsche habit.

I got at least 3 highlights!!

1. Driving the Gray Wolf out to Watkins Glen (about 500 miles each way) to meet up with some R-Gruppe buddies - sunshine, top off, backroads .......

2. Flying out to pick up my new Cayenne and driving it back about 600 miles.

3. Meeting up with the R-Gruppe guys out in California for LeMans at the Grove.

A pretty darn good P-year!!

My best one was when I walked into the transport depot building and saw my newly purchased Carrera for the first time.

Oh, and driving it home was pretty memorable too!

I met the transporter at the freway off ramp and saw the 911 for this first time. Paid in full 2 months earlier and I couldn't wait.

BUT, that wasn't the best memory! It was when it fired up. The poor old thing had been idle for years and it came to life. It was as if I was birthing a baby. And now, as a crescendo, it will ride the the roads of the Santa Monica mountains tomorrow.

Considering that it started out for me as a year where I didn't have a 911 to drive, even, 2003 was stuffed with great 911 events. I got to meet a lot of guys from this board, and from different corners of the 911 world. Tyson and I ran the Open Track Challenge. R Gruppe moved to Monterey, with more cars and some new faces. The Big Bear and Mulholland runs were awesome.

But for me, the best moment had to be picking up BB2 after its (miraculous) 12-week build.

Mine was taking my wife and our '74 Targa to the 1st annual "Porsches to Pinckney" event in Pinckney, MI. We drove right into a tornado in Hell, MI (no kidding!) and got to meet Curt Egerer and see his "Gray Wolf". What a great day!!!!

Picking up my '83 944 in Richmond VA and driving it 800 miles back to Chicago. The PO suggested I ignore Mapquest's directions telling me to go north on I-95 and follow I-80 home and take I-64 through the mountains. He was right - a great trip. (Despite United losing all my luggage!)
