| Registered | Would you trade a 911 for a 944S AND a 924S?
I have a buddy that just bought a pristine 87 944S and also has a nice 87 924S for sale... just for fun, I offered him my 75 911S for both and he started humming about it, like he was actually considering it. Having had an 87 924S of my own in the past, I really like these cars and since I have another "911" anyway, this could be a cool deal. Of course, I'd probably sell the 924S and keep the 944S so I'd have extra money to boot! Still, I do love my 911... I know you guys are biased but what would you do?

Well, if I had two 911s I might trade one for a 951 or a 944S plus something. Not sure I'd take a 924S as that "something" - what would you do with it?

I had a 84 944 and it was not an S and it was a great car I aslo had a couple 924's which were also funcars. All of them were so down on power I would have a hard time trading. Although the 944S has an improved engine and the 924S has the old 944 motor. Both are better than what I had. I might take him up on it.

Sounds like double the trouble. If your 911 is well sorted out and you know the car well, you should keep it.

Ya know, I was actually going to say yes, especially if you'd come out better on the money end of things, but then I saw the pic. Come on, could you really give that up? The simple and beautiful form of the 911, unfettered by any wings, and silver for christsakes, SILVER! It's a thing of beauty, I love your Orange 912 too, but how can you resist having both of them in your garage? DON'T DO IT! Now if it were, say, a 951 and a 928 GTS..........

Yeah, I know but the lay-off that I received on Monday is kind of making the cool 944S plus the cash from a 924S sale look more appealing than it normally would. I do love that 911 though...

Offer up the 912. Keep the 944S and the 911, sell the 924.

I sold my 78 911 targa in a weak moment to get the cash...then took half of it and bought a nice 1988 944. Problem was that it wasn't a 911. With that said I wouldn't mind having a 911 and a 944 or 924 to drive daily. I was almost tempted by a 924 turbo on ebay the other day. Don't know what it is but I think they are interesting and I know 931's have some issues. Hopefully you'll find another job soon. Of course you know your situation, but try not to sell assets to live...you'd be surprised how quick you can burn through the proceeds to pay for daily expenses. And if that doesn't work sell everything else before the 911!

I would never get rid of my 930 but I wouldn't mind owning a tweaked 944 turbo.

I had an 86 944 Turbo w/chip. Fastest 4 banger I have ever driven. Very fun car. Only reason I sold it is that some mope offered me $3K more than I paid for it and I said "WTF" Then I bought the 83 SC. Completely different cars, no comparison really. I have never (nor care to) ever drive a 924 of any flavor.

You'd have to change your user name as well. For more than one reason. | ||

Having had both of those in the past, I would actually consider it this time of year. After all it is nice to have a beater that has a good heating system as well as easy to fit for snow tires as I drive through mountains of snow and ice.
