This is going to be very cool. A bit more realistic than NFS.

Ryan,
So you managed to race too. Was starting to think we'd never get on! Maybe race you later..

Ryan, Awesome, glad you were finally able to get into a game!!

It sucks that I missed all of the fun, but I can't play every night. Maybe tonight if you guys are still up for it. It'll be cool to play a full grid.

I'm up for it! How can crash damage be activated? It's weird how you can drive through each other.

The host can turn it on, but trust me, unless there are only a few cars, and everyone is on a really fast connection, it is better without it. Lag induced collisions just cause problems.

Last night was fun, once we got past the excruciating load times. I don't know it is was a network traffic problem, or someone had a really slow computer, but 5 minutes loading a race that will only last 3 minutes sucks. Later when there was only 3 of us, it was really fast, and I hosted 4 guys earlier in the week with no trouble.

I am amazed how fast some people were going driving with the keyboard. Without my whee/pedals I suck.

Maybe I should invest in a wheel/peal combo. For those playing tonight, what time? Think I went to bed at about 5ish this morning!

You can get really fast with a keyboard, it's all I used for the first 6 months that I had the game, but when I got the wheel and pedals it made a huge difference. The only thing that is actually BETTER with the keyboard is when you have to do 360's in the factory driver mode. Since you can go full lock to lock instantly it is much easier to do than with a wheel.

if you can afford the $100 for a decent logitech (I suppose Microsoft is OK too) force feedback wheel do it. The game is even more fun.

I have the Logitech FF wheel, it is the $60-70 range now.

Microsoft got out of the game controller business, so you may be able to find a deal on a closeout.

Logitech input devices kick butt, and if you are monetarily comfortable I think you can still get the Momo wheel and pedals kit that has a leather covered Momo designed wheel, and I think metal pedals.

Either way, mine works great. Logitech Formula Force GP. It's pretty cool, you can feel texture in the road, you can feel self centering due to the alignment, you can feel the steering get light when you start to understeer, when you start sustaining damage the steering gets less precise, sometimes it start to vibrate, etc....

Spend the extra £10 and get the force feedback version:

If you need to rationalize it, just say what I say:

"I have spent more on dumber stuff."

My girlfriend says that's an admittance of stupidity, so I can't get away with that one.

Last night was great. Hopefully I can get on tonight too.

If not I may just run the 'Ring in a '67 Lotus in GPL, maybe Laguna Seca, or even Le Mans
