Redundant POS VDO clock died....

So...what's out there to replace it with? I have a wrist watch and a clock in my radio.....I have oil temp and pressure....besides putting a big red idjut light there for oil...what else can go in the hole?

jhelgesen 02-04-2004 06:22 AM

You can put a fresh air vent in there, gives a great blast of air on a hot day.

Joe Bob 02-04-2004 07:09 AM

It's a cabriolet.....I gets ALL the fresh air I needs.....

1. Water temp gage? Oops never mind, it's a air blower.
2. How about a battery 12V voltage thingy. That is useful.

I replaced my redundant POS VDO clock with a CHT gauge.

Just plug it! I added a little Pelican sticker for good measure...

Mikey, fix the clock, there are tech articles on doing it.

just remove all the workings from the clock, cut a plain ol black face and insert it in the bezel...now you have a clock delete.

The tech articles are for the early (electrically wound mechanical) clocks I think. Mikey's is probably the modern quartz type.

You can probably find a replacement used from the usual suspects. Years ago I got one at Pomona for $20...

thrown_hammer 02-04-2004 08:41 AM

Chuck,
There must be some kind of mistake. Must be the glare...I cleaned up the pic a little and it is defenitely glare. ;)

The clock in my '86 is still going strong. I wonder how many 1980's non-VDO car clocks are still going these days?
Now the digital one in my 944, that's a POS.

You had a working clock??? I'm jealous!

Delete clock for weight savings. Should equal at least two horsepower!

JeremyD 02-04-2004 09:17 AM

Mine in my 87 keeps great time, better than the rolex.......

Sonic dB 02-04-2004 09:21 AM

Leave it alone as a reminder that
"Time Stands Still when I am driving my 911"

thats what I did with my POS clock...
