having problem taking cat off

I have grinded off all the bolts holding the cat on and now I'm trying to sperate it from the heat exchangers. I can't get it to budge. Anyone have a suggestion?

You could try heating up that area where they connect... that should make them more receptive to a "prying" separation, no?

I don't have a Oxy/Mapp or acetylene setup just a propane torch and I don't think it will get it hot enough. I tried it for a while with no luck.

You say you've grinded off all the bolts... does that mean you just cut off the head and the end bolts? If the main part of the bolt is still in the hole then it might be the culprit. Perhaps you can try cutting the shaft of the bolts off inbetween the cat and heat exchanger.

Take a punch and a hammer and punch those rusted bolts out.... I just did this and you have to get the bolts out before it will seperate...
