Pop valve like thing. What is this?

The engine is out of the 3.2 for cleaning and repair. When I flipped the engine over to wash the bottom, this little molded part fell out. I haven't a clue what it is. It is made of hard molded plastic. The inner sleeves telescope up and down. The inner sleeve has an expanded tip as if designed to fit into a hose.
Any idea? I'm stumped.

So, over 50 smart and experienced P-car folks haven't a clue either. I am betting this part fell onto the engine from something unrelated to this car. A leakdown unit, compression tester, etc.

You must have the e-Ram Mod.

That is the install device. The spring that actually inserts the e-Ram stays with the e-Ram, and that is why the injector seems like it has no purpose.

I'd be willing to bet that you could sell that on eBay.

Some poor soul has probably lost his installer while debating the merits of the e-Ram.

Let us know how it turns out.

Singpilot,
That's interesting. Where would I look to see if the e-Ram mod is there? This 3.2 seems pretty stock to me.

He's kidding about the eRam thing Chris. I wonder if it something related to cabriolets?

It's an engine cooking timer. When it pops the engine is ready!!!

I couldn't resist.

Are there any markings on it?

Doesn't look like an engine part (at least not a stock engine part)

If the center section was spring loaded, I would guess some sort of seal installer or something along those lines.

Nope. No inner spring, no "e-ram", nothing. Fa-get-about-it.
Sorry to waste your time.

Sorry to pull your chain, there has been a lengthy ongoing session about e-Ram being sold on eBay. There is, in fact, no such thing.

I have been flying for the last few days, and have not had a chance to follow the thread.

You hit it on the head. No one here has ever seen anything like that.

No question here ever wastes anybody's time.

Sorry if I fooled you too well; it's a sickness. I know. Bad Pilot........
