930 & Carrera Headers

Hi Gang,

Do the 930 and Carrera 3.2L Headers have the same port sizes (1 5/8")?

C'mon gang, someone on here must know?

More to the point, will an aftermarket 930 header system bolt onto the Carrera Heads?

Sorry, but I don't think it's something you want to do. Stock 930 heads have a relatively small exhaust port size of 34mm (1.34"). I just measured my new B&B 930 headers which I have yet to install. They measure 1.375" ID and 1.500" OD. Both measurements were taken at the flange. Hope that helps!

Regards,

Thanks for the info Brian.

Let us know how the new headers perform once you install it

Aside from being smaller i have always heard that turbo headers do not have to be equal length or "tuned" at all. Stuff that i have read, on this board, always states that is better to have short primaries putting the turbo closer to the heads.

Merv - according to BA's 2nd edition the 930s had an exhaust port size of 34mm. Carrera was 38mm. My guess would be that the stock 3.2 exhaust has a larger ID.

The 930 exhaust will bolt on the the Carrera heads and could most likely be made to work (if that is your plan). Exhaust flow - as you know - is not nearly as important in turbocharged applications. The stock Euro 930 exhaust will handle 400HP no problem, and an aftermarket header much more.

So my vote is GO FOR IT! Why custom bend a set of pipes when the aftermarket has already done it? There may be some specific to Carrera fitment issues, nothing you can't get by.

U're right RarlyL8.

Even if it's not an exact match, I'm sure GHL or B&B would make a custom one with the ports/flanges made to match up to the Carrera heads nicely
